Stockholm to Bangkok on points: what the data says right now

Bangkok is the classic long-haul redemption from Scandinavia: far enough that business class genuinely matters, popular enough that cash fares sting, and served well enough that award space actually exists. This guide is built the way all our route guides are: from fares and schedules we have observed ourselves, each number carrying the date we saw it.

Facts below were current when checked in late August 2026. The live route page always has the latest.

The route itself

Stockholm Arlanda to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is about 8,300 kilometres (5,152 miles). In the timetable we hold, checked 20 August 2026, two carriers operate the pair non-stop: Thai Airways, daily on an Airbus A350-900 at roughly eleven hours, and Norse Atlantic. The A350 is modern widebody metal, which matters if you are weighing a direct cash-or-points premium against a one-stop itinerary on the same points.

A note that saves confusion: since SAS moved to SkyTeam in September 2024, Thai Airways (a Star Alliance member) is not a EuroBonus redemption. The direct flight and the points routes below are, for most readers, different currencies.

What the points prices look like

From our ledger, confirmed award space observed in the sixty days to 24 August 2026, cheapest per cabin on Stockholm to Bangkok:

Cabin From Routing seen Observed
Economy 57,000 points one stop, China Eastern 20 Aug 2026
Premium 85,500 points one stop, KLM and SAS 23 Aug 2026
Business 114,000 points multi-stop, Air France and KLM 24 Aug 2026

Three observations worth more than the numbers themselves:

  • The one-stop pattern is the story. SkyTeam space to Bangkok from Stockholm runs through the big European hubs, with Amsterdam and Paris doing most of the work, plus the occasional Chinese carrier routing (the 57,000-point economy floor was China Eastern via Shanghai; check the total journey time before celebrating).
  • Premium economy is quietly the value cabin here. At 85,500 observed against 114,000 for business, on an eleven-plus-hour eastbound overnight, the premium row is worth a serious look, especially for the outbound.
  • September is wide open in our window. Of the confirmed availability we hold, September 2026 carries several times the space of any other month, with economy floors flat at 57,000 from August to November and only December thinning out.

How to actually book it

  1. Decide the cabin honestly. The business floor we observed is exactly double the economy floor. On an overnight eastbound, that can be worth it; on the daytime return, maybe not. Mixed-cabin returns are normal.
  2. Widen to Copenhagen. CPH carries more long-haul award metal than ARN, and a short positioning hop in front of a Bangkok award is often the unlock. Compare the Copenhagen route page before fixing on Arlanda.
  3. Watch, do not poll. Set an alert on the route and cabin. Bangkok space appears in bursts (a whole month opening at once is common in our change history), and the burst is when you book.
  4. Check the metal. If you end up on the direct flight with cash or a partner currency, the A350 page shows what you are getting. For the one-stop awards, the long leg is the one to check.

Every figure above ages from the moment we publish. The route page is the living version: current observed floors, months, carriers and recent openings, each with its date.
